Artist Statement
My eye finds intersections between the natural beauty of organic patterns and the geometry of manmade structures. I’m a student of language, and my work sometimes includes text. My art seeks to celebrate the interconnectedness in our environment.
Biography
Robert Raines is a photographer, printmaker and documentary filmmaker living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised in New York City, Robert developed his first analog photograph at age twelve. He currently uses a photo-based approach for his printmaking work. Robert received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard and a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Chicago. After a career in marketing and communications, he studied printmaking with Toru Sugita at Diablo Valley College. His work can be found in private collections from New England to California.
